The path of love

If all the mysteries I came to know,
and if the gift of prophecy were mine,
and by my faith the mountains I could o’erthrow,
yet lacking love, I would be naught divine.
Though to the poor my ev’ry good I gave,
rejoicing still, in selfless joy to thee,
and walked in humble grace to ever save
yet without love, no blessing would there be.
For love finds strength in good, and never dies,
it bears, believes, forgives, and purifies,
nor boasts, but shines in grace like a white dove.
It pardons wrong, and never keeps a score,
endures and hopes, and loves forevermore –
in soul, the holy sign of God’s own love.
